Coming from the Bay Area, Dr. Lai graduated with highest honors from the University of California, Davis, and received his medical degree from New York Medical College in 2003. He completed an internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at Westchester Medical Center/ New York Medical College. Dr. Lai went on further to finish an advanced cardiac imaging fellowship in Cardiac MR and Cardiac CT at St. Francis Hospital, New York.

Dr. Lai has written extensively in peer-reviewed journals on different topics in cardiology. He has discussed his work at many national and international meetings, and has received numerous awards for his research excellence. He was nominated in Who's Who in America.

Dr. Lai is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, Cardiac CT, and Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation. 
He has hospital privileges at Temecula Valley Hospital, Loma Linda Medical Center-Murrieta, Rancho Springs Medical Center, and Inland Valley Medical Center.

His special interests are preventative cardiology, coronary artery disease, and cardiac imaging.
